How Do I Avoid Owing High Attorney Fees?

There’s no reason for you or your family to fall into excessive debt due to attorney fees. People go to lawyers for help, not to be saddled with more problems. Unfortunately, there are cases where a person’s attorney fees can get out of hand unnecessarily. In this video, Denver divorce lawyer Will Smith provides a few tips to help people keep their family law attorney fee bill low. At our law firm, we believe that everyone, from white-collar workers to blue-collar families with children, deserves high-quality legal representation. Therefore, we have structured our law firm to provide clients with top-flight services available at high-priced firms.

Video Transcript:

Nothing drives me crazier professionally and personally than someone’s attorney fee bill getting higher than necessary. A couple of quick tips on keeping attorney fees down are: To send a single communication rather than multiple communications. Oftentimes if we’re in the office, we’ll be working on one task, one job, one motion, whatever, if we have to take, say, six individual phone calls from a client, that same client in one day, we’re happy to take a call but it’s going to interrupt something else, we’ll have to bill for that telephone call. When if it was a single communication rather than six spread out, it would have resulted in a net, smaller charge to the client. Beyond that, be organized. There’s a requirement to do financial disclosures. We’re happy to help organize those but candidly, if you can provide us something that is more organized and easier to go through, it will cost you less in fees than having us take care of it.
